“I welcome the reality that a deal has been arrived at now on the potential relationship between the EU and Uk which the Parliament will now scrutinise in detail,” European Parliament head David Sassoli reported in a statement soon after the deal was struck on Thursday.
The legislative assembly will resume conferences in January, in the format of committees and a plenary, right before choosing to approve the agreeement or not.
“The European Parliament will now analyse the settlement in detail just before deciding irrespective of whether to give consent in the new 12 months. We will act responsibly in order to minimise disruption to citizens and avert the chaos of a no-deal circumstance,” Sassoli explained.
