After the Vietnam War, France relocated a little team of 45 Hmong refugees from Laos to its overseas territory in South America, referred to as French Guiana.
The Hmong people today had been fleeing persecution from the communists, because they were extended-time allies of France and had fought with US forces.
Forty several years afterwards, French Guiana is now seriously reliant on the foods that these refugees and their descendants grow in farms deep in the Amazon jungle. It is explained they are a genuine immigration success story, but this delighted ending was not normally confirmed.
Film by Daisy Walsh, Tommy Chavannes and Jilla Dastmalchi.
