Rep. Kevin Brady, the Texas Republican who took a major position in pushing previous President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax-cut invoice via Congress in 2017, claimed Wednesday he is retiring from Congress at the conclude of his recent term.
“I’m retiring as your congressman,” Brady claimed in a speech through an economic convention hosted by the Woodlands Spot Chamber of Commerce.
“This phrase, my 13th, will be my previous,” he reported.
Brady, 66, served as the chairman of the strong Residence Methods and Indicates Committee, the top tax-crafting system in the chamber, for two phrases. He turned the position Republican on the panel in 2019, following Democrats took bulk regulate of the Residence.
Brady confronted a term limit on his position as the Republican chief of the committee.
